Musicians
The Living Room features live music seven days a week and with locations throughout the country, we are constantly seeking to add to our talented roster of musicians.
A main focus of each Living Room is a white Baby Grand piano and this must be used in all performances. We employ two main types of act:
Solo singer/pianist playing rhythm and blues, boogie, rock 'n' roll, and upbeat blues
To include songs by Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Dr John, Ramsey Lewis, Van Morrison
This traditional style of Living Room set can also have contemporary tunes added into it, such as Scissor Sisters, James Blunt, Coldplay, Keane and James Morrison.
Duo, comprising of piano, guitar and vocals, playing classic and contemporary rock and pop
To include the likes of U2, Coldplay, David Gray, Rolling Stones, Paul Weller, Prince, Marc Cohn, The Eagles, Stereophonics, Keane and Starsailor.
We are also interested in soul based sets that include classic and contemporary soul and r 'n' b songs.
These artistes are mentioned as a guide to our style of music. The emphasis is on 'cool' versions of classics rather than 'lounge cabaret' or 'cheesy party favourites.'
Our set times are as follows:
- Sunday - three 30 minute sets at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm
- Monday to Saturday - two 45 minute sets at 8.30pm and 9.45pm
- Start times may vary slightly from site to site
The atmosphere in The Living Room is excellent, and as our stages are situated in the bar areas, you will be providing up-close entertainment as well as background music for the restaurants.
The piano, on-stage mixing desk, microphones(2), microphone stands(2), DI Box(1), and PA, are all supplied by The Living Room. All musicians should have a working knowledge of a mixing desk - the model we use is a Soundcraft Spirit.
We book our artists to a monthly calendar, and where possible, we like to offer regular spots. All bookings are made by Steven Walter.
Our standard rates of pay are:
- £75 for a solo artist on a Sunday
- £75 - £100 for a solo artist for the rest of the week
- £100 - £150 for a duo
An allowance is given for food and drink
Payment is made by the Duty Manager, at the end of the performance, in cash and on completion of an 'Entertainment Form.'
The dress code for artists is smart casual and we ask that all acts arrive promptly and ready to play on time.
DJs
We employ DJs on a residency basis, to play Fridays and Saturdays and occasionally on other nights of the week.
You will need to play an eclectic mix of soul, funk, disco, rare groove, r 'n' b and dance that is neither too cheesy, nor too cool but one that will appeal to our diverse and very discerning customer base.
We look forward to working with you.
